The Milan Christian Food Pantry is a cooperative effort of five churches: St. Ambrose, St. Matthew Lutheran, Trinity United Methodist and First Presbyterian Church, all in Milan; and St. Patrick in Andalusia. The food pantry serves residents of Milan, Southwest Rock Island, Andalusia and Taylor Ridge and is open on Mondays from 9 to 11 a.m. and Thursdays from 3 to 6 p.m. The current location is 128 W. 4th Street, Milan, though renovation is being done for a new location at 225 E. 1st Street, Milan, to the north of Hardee’s. The Milan Christian Food Pantry opened on November 4, 2013. In the first month of operation, it served 185 families and 543 people. In 2019, the Pantry is serving about 270 families and about 870 people per month.
Food donations from St. Ambrose are collected every fifth Sunday of the month or can be left at the entrances to the church at any time. Monetary donations can be mailed to the Milan Christian Food Pantry, P.O. Box 333, Milan, IL 61264.
